Since 2020, Darren has helped to pioneer the sport of Freediving for those with physical injuries and disabilities. Freediving is a form of underwater diving that relies on breath-holding until resurfacing rather than the use of breathing apparatus such as scuba diving. Besides the limits of the breath-hold itself, immersion in water and exposure to high ambient pressure also have psychological effects that limits the duration possible in freediving.
Darren is one of a very small number of disabled freedivers internationally and has helped to push the boundaries of the sport for those with Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI) and disabilities both in the UK and internationally.
